Putting a twist on Australian Broadway to raise money for HIV/AIDS.
On the 18th of July 2011, The Benge Group will present ‘Twisted Broadway,’ a charity event to raise money for Oz Showbiz Cares / Equity Fights Aids.
Conceived in New York, Twisted Broadway is a gender bender showcase of classic and contemporary music theatre tunes. Male singers perform female numbers, female singers perform male numbers, and hilarity ensues, enabling the audience to explore the limitations of our gender expectations in this modern time.
With a stellar cast of performers including Simon Gleeson (Love Never Dies) and Michael Falzon (Rock of Ages) and others from Next to Normal, Doctor Zhivago, Prodigal and Anything Goes, the show puts a dynamic spin on all things Broadway!
Musically Directed by James Simpson and hosted by Brent Hill and Leah Howard Twisted Broadway is back at the BMW Edge, Federation Square allowing its sell out inaugural performance last year.
The Benge Group Co-Director Kate Macdonald said of the show “The industry response for the show has been fantastic. From cast members, agents, company management and producers, the Australian Theatre community have supported us immensely.”
Drew Weston, WAAPA graduate and Mary Poppins cast member, is pleased to be returning to Twisted Broadway after performing in last year’s production, “From a performer’s perspective, Twisted Broadway has big appeal... allowing us to get up and perform songs we previously couldn’t, is great fun.”
“The show has fast created a name for itself as one of the most unique events on the theatrical calendar,” Co-Director of The Benge Group Daniel Benge stated.
Tickets are sold www.ticketmaster.com and are available now, so don’t miss out!
Twisted Broadway Proudly supported by MAC cosmetics, Fed Square and Joy 94.9.
